Mercury had a new engine to unveil in early 2021. But this was no ordinary product launch. It was the world’s first 600-horsepower, V12 powerhead designed for an outboard engine—the Mercury V12 Verado. An outboard that literally blew industry norms out of the proverbial water. Boaters would have to see this level of power to believe it. Unfortunately, boat shows across the country were cancelled due to COVID—making it impossible to experience the magnitude of this engine first-hand. Mercury had to find a different stage to tell its story. So we created a digital experience as dynamic and beautiful as the engine itself—an immersive journey from powerhead to prop. The technology came to life with interactive animations, engaging copy and exhilarating UX. The experience may not have been quite as exciting as taking one out on the water—but it certainly gave a taste of what to expect when you finally do.
